Folkestone Racecourse

Located just four miles away from the major port in Kent, Folkestone Racecourse is a right handed round course of around 1 ¼ miles which has a run in of two and a half furlongs. It plays host to both Flat and National Hunt horse racing.

The course hosts over 20 race days annually and one of the major race days is the United Hunts Meeting which takes place in May, this is an evening event for amateur riders that always brings big fans of point-to-pointing. Another notable race is the Kent National which runs in March.

High numbers are favoured in this course in the draw stall advantage in races that are 5 and 6 furlongs in duration. The top four stalls are the places to look when there are 14 or more runners.

The top jockeys at this course are Richard Hughes and Seb Sanders with the top trainer being Richard Hannon.

Flat: Folkestone is a right-handed pear-shaped track of about 11 furlongs with some undulation & a run-in of 2 1/2 furlongs. There is also a straight 6 furlong course. Both rise slightly to the finish.

Jumps: Folkestone is a right-hand course of one mile and three furlongs with some undulation. Eight fences per circuit. Run-in of 220yds for chases; 250yds for hurdles.

Road: 6m W of town at Westenhanger. Easy access from Jctn 11 of M20.  Parking: Free (Picnic Car Park £5 per car, £5 per occupant; £5 without a car.)
Rail: Westenhanger Station.
