The course at Fakenham has been in existence for just over a hundred years. It is almost square in shape and the left handed track is just under a mile in circumference, with just 6 fences to contend with.
The course holds 8 national hunt race meetings over the racing calendar year with the bank holiday race in April being the most popular particularly with the locals and it always attracts a decent sized crowd to this rural racecourse.
Any horse that is not in the first two or three whilst turning into the back straight will find it difficult to finish in a decent place.
The course is used by many of the countries top trainers with Nicky Henderson and Evan Williams being two of the most prolific at this venue. Jockeys AP McCoy and Richard Johnson historically always do well as this course.
